NHRC Ambekka Relief (Plate) - Kandy
(SKU: LSB100CE66) Ambekka Devalaya (Ambekka Temple) was established by King Vikramabahu III of the Gampola Era in Sri Lanka. The most noticeable structure is the wood hall in front of the major shrine known as "Digge." It is reported that this hall contains a total of 514 different carvings. The panels that were placed at eye level on the pillars that were used in the creation of these replicas are, by far, the most stunning of all of them. There are a total of 128 carvings on this type of panel, as each wooden pillar has one on each of its four sides. Ambekka's popularity stems from the high quality of these panels as well as their number of varieties. Each panel has its own unique design; however, some themes, such as flowers or birds, appear on more than one panel.
