The Lakpura Pachchaperumal rice is a popular heirloom rice variety that has been used in Sri Lanka due to its high quality and nutritional value. A medium grain red rice variety that can be harvested in 3 1/2 months, while when cooked it turns into a dark maroon burgundy colour. The term “Pachchaperumal” stands for Lord Buddha’s colour. Processed in small batches, this rice is known for its many health benefits.
