“Ocean Odyssey” makes her maiden call to Colombo

The luxury cruise liner “Ocean Odyssey”, carrying 108 high-end passengers on-board from US made her maiden call at the Colombo Port yesterday.

Marking the arrival of the ship for the first time at the Port of Colombo, the ceremonial exchange of light took place between the ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and the Captain of the ship. A group of officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Services, Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Shipping Agent Company participated in this event.

“The passengers of Ocean Odyssey will travel the country before boarding the cruise ship on 21 December from Trincomalee harbour,” the Ports, Shipping and Aviation Ministry said. 

This cruise arrived at Colombo Port from Cochin Port, India and is scheduled to sail to Trincomalee Port today (19).

As per the shipping agent company Dave Marine, the tourists who were on-board will disembark at Colombo Port and travel around Colombo, Kurunegala, Habarana, Sigiriya and Trincomalee by luxury buses for about two and a half days and board the ship from Trincomalee Port on 21 December.

The “Ocean Odyssey” is scheduled to sail from Trincomalee Port to Thailand on 21 December at 7.30 p.m.

This cruise belonging to an American company is 105 meters long and 18.5 meters wide.
